After the age of thirty, we lose 1% of collagen a year in our face. This is estimated by some experts to equal up to 1 teaspoon of collagen a year lost! One teaspoon is equal to five syringes of filler. So essentially, one could receive five syringes of filler per year to maintain their volume.
At InjectAbility® Clinic, we try our best to keep your natural volume using the most economical means. Sometimes we use Hyaluronic Acids like Voluma®, Juvederm®, or Restylane®. Other times, when our patients have a lot of volume to replace, Sculptra® is the best, and most economical option.
Sculptra®
Sculptra® consists of a substance called Poly-L-Actic Acid. It acts uniquely to stimulate your own collagen to form 4-6 weeks after it is injected. Approved by the FDA in 2009, Sculptra® replaces lost collagen, restoring lost volume to the underlying structures. Sculptra® lasts up to two years, and even longer when partnered with a complementary injectable, such as JUVÉDERM®.
Sculptra® will improve the look of:
- Flattened cheeks
- Sunken Temples
- Hollow below the cheekbones
The ideal candidate will have overall volume loss. Our Sculptra® patients are generally thin and fit in nature with not a lot of their own natural tissue. Sculptra® is injected by the smallest needle possible by one of InjectAbility Clinic’s advanced injectors. Premixed with Lidocaine, Sculptra® injections are not considered painful. A topical anesthetic can be used prior to treatment, to further improve a patient’s comfort. The treatment takes less than an hour, and leaves the patient looking refreshed, and rarely bruised.
Sculptra® differs from other dermal filler injections in that the benefits from a Sculptra® session will not be seen immediately. It takes 3-4 weeks for the body to produce its own type I and type III collagen. These collagen types not only help rebuild volume, but they also change the texture of the skin as well.
Based on your age, a series of two to three Sculptra® sessions may be needed. These are usually spaced approximately four weeks apart. The final results from Sculptra® can last up to two years, making Sculptra® a worthwhile investment. To maintain a youthful appearance, patients should have a repeat Sculptra® treatment when their results begin to fade.
