Juvederm Volbella enhances the appearance of the lips and mouth through volumization. At first, this volumization occurs because the hyaluronic acid molecules that are injected attract up to 1,000 times their weight in water molecules. Once in the targeted area, the water binds to the hyaluronic acid and remains.
An added benefit of the extra hyaluronic acid and water in the local area is that it induces the production of extra collagen. Collagen, like hyaluronic acid, also volumizes the skin. This protein also keeps the skin tight, smooth, healthy, and hydrated.
On average, Juvederm Volbella sessions take between 30 and 45 minutes to complete. If you are concerned about more than your lips and mouth, like your nose and cheeks, your session may take closer to an hour. Depending on the scope of your treatment, you may require several Juvederm formulas to achieve your desired results. Also, your session will take longer if you want your skin to be numbed before the injections are administered.
We use a fine-gauge needle to administer the injections so you will only feel a bit of pressure as the first few doses are administered. After that, the injectable lidocaine in the formula will start to work and numb the treatment area. However, if you don’t want to feel the first few injections, we are happy to numb your skin before your treatment.
A lot of Juvederm formulas last between eight months and a year before starting to slowly fade away. Nevertheless, Volbella provides results that can last for up to 18 months. This is so exciting because most lip and mouth enhancement treatments only last for six months due to how active your mouth is throughout the day. However, to verify this treatment is right for you, we need to talk about your past and present health during your initial consultation. Also, you need to be able to follow all of your preparation instructions.
It is essential that your skin is not irritated at the time of your treatment. If it is, your injection session must be rescheduled. Thus, you must take certain steps to mitigate the risk of skin irritation, such as spending as little time as possible in direct sunlight and wearing sunscreen. Also, you should take an antiviral regularly before your treatment if you have a history of oral herpes outbreaks.
Furthermore, you may be advised to use an anti-acne treatment before your session depending on your skin health history. Also, your blood pressure should be normal at the time of your treatment session. If your blood pressure is usually high, you should minimize your consumption of caffeine and sodium. If you can’t cut your sodium consumption enough to lower your blood pressure, drink extra water and get more potassium in your diet.
No, you must be able to go a few days without consuming nicotine or alcohol before your session. Both nicotine and alcohol can drastically affect your treatment.
There aren’t too many restrictions you will need to adhere to following your injections. However, you must take care to prevent sunburn for the first 14 days after your injections. Also, it is very important that your blood pressure remains normal for several days after your treatment.
Therefore, you should not consume much spicy food, caffeine, or sodium if you have naturally high blood pressure. Also, you should avoid excessive heat, including intense physical activity.
