Kybella® is the first FDA-approved injectable treatment designed to permanently reduce submental fat (double chin) by destroying fat cells, which the body then metabolizes.
Kybella® contains deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule that breaks down and absorbs fat cells. Once destroyed, these cells are permanently eliminated from the body.
Most patients require between 1 to 4 treatments, depending on the amount of fat in the area. Treatments are spaced six weeks apart and each session lasts 15-20 minutes.
During treatment, Kybella® is injected in a grid pattern under the chin, causing temporary minor discomfort. Afterward, expect mild to moderate swelling, redness, bruising, and tenderness for 3-7 days as the body metabolizes the fat.
